Subsidence Field Surveyor

Role Description:

Responsible for providing proactive direction & technical control and decision making on a portfolio of subsidence repairs. Responsible for the production of the specification of repairs and ongoing technical direction throughout the life of the repair. To drive repairs to completion. Be a focal point for the subsidence team in relation to the technical aspects of the repair to enable them to manage their caseload of Subsidence files.

The role will also require assistance with regard to completion of first visits/diagnosis in their region and for second visits/trouble shooting on existing subsidence cases.

The role will also be key in the development of proactive processes in the Subsidence repair phase including the development of our subsidence repair network to handle our structure/subsidence repairs, working closely with our supplier management team in this respect.

Building on relationships, you will ideally have strong experience and a proven track record in multi-site management in the subsidence arena and engineering /principle designer experience for typical structural repairs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Reduction in the average elapsed time from contractor assignment to completion of works.
  • Production of the specification of repairs and seeing the repair to completion.
  • To ensure a clear thought process and justification is clearly provided for all repair aspects in a file note.
  • To ensure client philosophies and policy wordings are adhered to.
  • To return callbacks within 1 working day
  • To support the ongoing development of the Repair Claim Managers including the provision of workshops
  • To actively encourage verbal communications at all times and provide feedback (good and bad verbally to claim managers) – Reporting repeat areas of concern to the Operations Manager
  • To actively build relations verbally with our existing suppliers and clients – reporting repeat areas of concern to the Product Leader.
  • Making accurate and timely decisions within set SLAs and to achieve the optimum balance of cost, time and customer satisfaction, including handling variation requests and contractor queries.
  • To be able to draw up a clear and accurate repair specification and deal with VO’s in line with policy coverage.
  • We expect proactivity demonstrable with outbound calls made in line with the rest of the subsidence specialists.
  • To take ownership for and manage all technical aspects of the subsidence repair phase process.
  • To take the final decision on the accuracy of all schedules of repair and develop the project, working closely with the subsidence team
  • To take ownership of the management of the technical elements of the repair process
  • To motivate and help develop the team and lead by example.
  • To demonstrate proactive handling of all repairs.
  • Be a key part in the building of excellent client and supplier relationships
  • To complete regular process and WIP reviews with the team and to manage resulting issues.
  • To be involved in the review and understanding of MI reports and to assist with the improvements where required in terms of the repair phase.
  • To ensure that the team comply with the process and best practice requirements, to demonstrate compliance.
  • To manage the completion of all tasks within service level agreement timescales as specifically set by the client or the company. We expect 8-10 meaningful tasks to be completed per day
  • To proactively monitor own workload and prioritise action where required.
  • To own the resolution of issues within own area of influence and encourage others to do the same.
  • To work with the Subsidence Management Team to design and deliver strategy and process developments, including training to staff as required
  • To understand and ‘live’ the PCUK Core Values.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Candidates require recognised construction engineering qualification / accreditation.
  • Chartered accreditation is advantageous.
  • Previous high-level Customer Service experience
  • Deep knowledge and extensive experience of the principals involved in the construction, repair and maintenance of domestic buildings is essential, within the subsidence area.
  • CII Qualified to Cert CII level – desirable but not essential.
