Matthaios’s journey to AI began with a physics degree at the University of Sheffield, where his final year project used AI and IoT devices to forecast wildfire spread. After graduating, he dove into AI development, building applications before joining Synergy. Now, he’s working on AI coding agents that transform weeks of repetitive development work into a single day, and a data visualisation platform that analysed 40,000 customer emails to identify pain points. The primary finding? Customers mainly want status updates on their claims.
His magic wand for the industry? Making policy documents more accessible. Matthaios points to a famous experiment where a company buried a £1,000 reward in their terms and conditions, it took 12 years before anyone claimed it. With 40 to 50-page policy documents, his vision is an interactive AI assistant that customers can question any time, making insurance cover clearer and reducing the confusion that drives most complaints.
