Jeremy Hyams’ Off Script Podcast: Building Networks with Ian Davies
4th December 2025
Welcome to another episode of “Off Script,” where we explore the stories behind the people at Claims Consortium Group (CCG). In this episode, Jeremy Hyams sits down with Ian Davies, Head of Supply Chain, to discuss the specialist networks that keep our customers’ claims moving smoothly.
From Motoring Journalism Dreams to Supply Chain Leadership
Ian’s journey into insurance followed the familiar pattern of falling into the industry rather than planning for it. Growing up, he dreamed of becoming a motoring journalist, combining his love of cars with writing. However, teachers were discouraging, and so he eventually found his way into insurance. Now, as Head of Supply Chain, Ian oversees approximately 180 suppliers across multiple specialist networks, from laser cleaners for high-net-worth properties to brickwork specialists for motor impact damage and dedicated roofing and fencing networks.
Ian’s proudest achievement over the past two years has been the evolution of his team and the streamlined onboarding process they’ve developed. What used to take six months to onboard a new supplier now takes just a week, thanks to the structure and efficiency the team has built. With network performance analysts and around 50 contractors under his direct remit in the north of Scotland, Ian’s role extends far beyond internal management, effectively overseeing thousands of employees across the supply chain who serve CCG’s customers every day.
His vision for the industry’s future involves leveraging technology and AI to attract younger talent and make claims handling more data-driven. He imagines evolving job roles where claims handlers become data analysts, using AI to identify patterns and predict claim values based on house type, age, and size, enabling quicker settlements and better customer service.
Tune in to hear Ian discuss the intricacies of supply chain management, specialist networks, and how technology is reshaping the insurance industry.
