Scarecrows take over in aid of Dementia Awareness Week
23rd May 2016
Employees at Claims Consortium have enjoyed a day of activities to support local charity Reminiscence Learning in marking Dementia Awareness Week.
The charity is promoting its latest project, Archie’s story, which is an exciting, intergenerational dementia awareness community project that is designed to ultimately make towns and villages dementia friendly. Many people with dementia will use mascots or dolls as a source of comfort and attachment, so the charity employs a brightly knitted scarecrow called Archie as their mascot.
Staff dressed up in red and yellow which are the colours of Archie, or went the whole hog and dressed up as scarecrows to raise funds. Other activities set up throughout the day in both of our Taunton offices and in Northampton, included cake baking, a team barbecue and – most important – soaking the CEO, Jeremy Hyams.
A special mention goes out to Sue Hill, Ashleigh Foot and Gemma Kemp (pictured) as well as Lisa Jarrett in Northampton for their costumes.
In total we raised over £1800 on the day and Jeremy praised the team for their enthusiasm in making Friday another fund-raising funday! The awareness of dementia is something the company takes very seriously, and is at the heart of how we handle customer service both in claims handling and with our suppliers.
